I'm not too familiar with visual novels, so I don't know what the baseline is for good or bad. In my experience, this was pretty good, the presentation is a little flat, but if the goal is to slowly unfold a story, then it works. I think there are a lot of ideas happening at once and would like to see more focus on the main feature which to me looks like the characters and story. It would be nice to have an attitude choice within conversations, and for the character portraits to be larger with subtle movements like blinking. For a non-veteran of the genre all of the buttons on display at once are pretty overwhelming.

DaScoot responds:

While I have been working to fill the game out with art (which is where the Patreon funding goes), I do solidly consider the game to be in the text genre in the tradition of Fenoxo's flash games rather than a Visual Novel. The resources just aren't there to do all the variants and qualities of portraits and scenes that would be required, at least not with the number of characters and scenes I've included. I do agree that more control over the scenarios would be good, but as a hobby project with one writer, I've had to limit myself to more linear conversations I'm afraid. The Specialist characters and main story will definitely be receiving more work though once the current focus (Missions) is complete.

Thanks for playing!

great graphics, music, and controls. My main issue was balance, I really wanted to have fun, but I just didnt. I know you were trying to go for an oldschool feel, but even the hardest old school games gave you powerups often, or mobility to level the playing field.

Gypopothomas responds:

Thanks for the feedback! The game's still not finished. I'll be adding more guns soon!

using the mouse to navigate a game menu for a non-mouse game is one of those things that bothers me. My first instinct was to see what would happen if I just rush the opponent, and once you're sheild to sheild it's anyone's game. I really like this idea, just the engine needs a little more work, like different kinds of strikes- terrain/mobility situations, some kind of parry/ or controlled defense. Music is nice, sfx are cool, character designs are ok, everything's ok.

Lemming1 responds:

Thanks. I have added these things to my notes so I can work on them. Thanks for your feedback =D

It's calm and fun, with a weird undertone. It reminds me of the music from Earthbound

min3ralWater responds:

Thank you very much! I really didn't expect this one to get such a good score, now my author comments sound really cocky.

I don't know what your intention was, or if there was any planning- but I feel exactly like that little guy

Sweet! I love your use of colors and oddly moving sentiment juxtaposed with the violent imagery. In a weird way it's almost patriotic

deathink responds:

Thanks a lot my man, I'm glad you can appreciate it.
